QGAir Agusta Aeronautiche AW139 VH-ESZ passes through Central Queensland

It was a rather busy day for Queensland Government (QGAir) Rescue helicopter Agusta Aeronautiche AW139 VH-ESZ on Wednesday, September 09, with the chopper ferrying from Archerfield to Cairns via Gladstone, Mackay and Townsville.

While making a fuel stop at Gladstone, we were fortunate to have a chat with the pilots and informed they were ferrying VH-ESZ to Far North Queensland as part of a rotational system designed to ensure the even distribution of flying hours on each airframe (rotary or fixed wing) operated by the Queensland State Government. This reportedly avoids a number of platforms requiring scheduled maintenance simultaneously.
