In support of military exercises currently underway at Shoalwater Bay Training Area (SWBTA) which reportedly involve personnel from the United States, Australian Helicopters Bell 412EP VH-PXY has been positioned to Rockhampton for an unspecified period.
While temporarily based at the beef capital, the primary role for VH-PXY will be search & rescue, and casualty evacuation if required during an unforeseen incident.
While taking time to catch-up with personnel at the RACQ / Capricorn Helicopter Rescue Service (CHRS) facility recently, took an opportunity to capture some photo's of VH-PXY while the chopper was receiving mechanical attention in the late afternoon sun. Note missing engine cowls.
