Air Whitsunday Seaplanes is a Shute Harbour / Whitsunday Airport based operation (more about this shortly) providing a range of charter, sightseeing and passenger transfers to nearby locations including Hamilton Island.
Due to the large number of photo's to be shared in an up-n-coming post about Air Whitsunday Seaplanes, mostly featuring de Havilland DHC-2 Beavers, decided to first post some photo's of Cessna 208FP Caravan VH-PGB, one of two Caravan Floatplanes also operated by the company.
Manufactuered in 2001, VH-PGB is powered by a Pratt & Whitney PT6A-114A turboprop engine which enables the aircraft to cruise at 140 knots, and achieve an approximate range of 840nm.
Configured to carry ten passengers (and a pilot), the two Cessna 208 Floatplanes operated by Air Whitsunday reportedly have a height (on land) of five meters due to the attached floats.
Of interest, take-off distance on land is said to be approximately 420m, and extends to approximately 640m when on water. However, please bare in mind this can vary depending on weather conditions and payload.
