Inflight ER Israel Aircraft Industries (IAI) 1124A Westwind II VH-IER

Bundaberg planespotter Micah S ventured to the airport on Friday 07 July and took the time to photograph Maryborough Airport based Inflight ER Israel Aircraft Industries (IAI) 1124A Westwind II VH-IER. Unfortunately, movement of the aircraft and why it was parked at Bundaberg is not known.

For a number of years, VH-IER was based at Illawarra Airport near Wollongong, however, when the owners of the aircraft - Capital Jet Resources - purchased Maryborough Aviation Services, the modified Westwind II was relocated to Maryborough where it now housed, maintained and operated from.

Manufactured in 1982 and powered by a pair of Garrett TFE 731-3-1G turbofans, VH-IER is a specialist medical retrieval and evacuation (medevac) aircraft with performance specifications that exceed or match other popular models that operate in Australia such as Pilatus PC-12NG, Beechcraft B200 / B300 Super King Air, Raytheon Hawker 800XP and Cessna 680 Citation Sovereign's.

Of interest, Inflight ER is short for Inflight Emergency Room, and more information about the aerial medical provider can be found at : http://www.inflighter.com.au/

Shortly after arriving at Maryborough in July 2016, David G of Maryborough Aviation Services took some interior photos of the aircraft, and kindly forwarded them our way.
