Callum Bain Photography joins the charity flight to Longreach aboard 'Retro Roo'
Callum Bain and the DSLR from Callum Bain Photography took to the skies from Sydney on Saturday, October 31, bound for Longreach aboard Qantas Airways Boeing 737-800 VH-XZP aka 'Retro Roo'.
Callum informed Air Queensland.blogspot sometime ago about his excitement and anticipation of joining the charity flight to Western Queensland. With the main aim to help raise funds for the Western Queensland Drought Appeal, it was pleasing to hear the flight was fully booked.
Departing Sydney at 9.19am (local time - daylight saving) as QF1360, 'Retro Roo' touched-down at Longreach at 10.12am after a flight time of 1hr / 53mins.
After receiving a warm welcome, passengers enjoyed a tour of the Qantas Founders Museum (QFM) and an opportunity to have lunch with a few cold ale's before re-boarding 'Retro-Roo' for the flight back to Sydney.
Departing Longreach at 15.02pm as QF1361, the return journey landed at Kingsford Smith Airport at 18.02pm after a flight time of 1hr / 59mins. Remember, Sydney is one hour ahead because of daylight saving.
Initially, it was anticipated 'Retro-Roo' would be required to do a 'gas-n-go' stop at Rockhampton because of heat, weight and runway length at Longreach. However, because the temperature was a little kinder than expected, the flight was able to depart with more fuel onboard allowing a direct return flight.
