Hervey Bay / Fraser Coast Airport is an aerodrome serving the city of Hervey Bay situated on the Fraser Coast, Queensland, and after a $11.5 million upgrade completed in 2005, is now a modern regional airport with many facilities placed in good steed for future growth.
Apart from a new terminal exhibiting a colourful and artistic decor, the runway was extended from 1500m (4921ft) to 2000m (6562ft) to accommodate jet services from Virgin Australia, QantasLink or Jetstar.
In 2006, the airport was the fastest growing in Queensland with passenger numbers doubling. The aerodrome resides at an elevation of 18m (60ft) above sea level with a single asphalt runway designated 11/29.
Today, the airport is serviced by the two mainstream carriers, QantasLink which provides regular flights from Brisbane and Virgin Australia with direct flights from Sydney.
