GSL Aviation Cessna 208B Grand Caravan VH-TIY

Continuing our focus on some of the operators and aircraft based at Shute Harbour / Whitsunday Airport, this post takes a quick look at GSL Aviation Cessna 208B Grand Caravan VH-TIY.
Manufactured in 1997, VH-TIY is one of two Cessna 208 Caravan's (among other aircraft such as GippsAero GA-8 Airvan's) operated by GSL Aviation from Cairns and Shute Harbour / Whitsunday Airport to provide a range of charter, scenic and transfer flights to anywhere along the Cape York Peninsula and Gulf of Carpentaria, aswell as parts of the Great Barrier Reef and The Whitsundays including Hamilton Island.
Of interest, the Cessna 208 Caravan is a single Pratt & Whitney PT6A-114 turboprop powered, fixed-gear, short-haul regional airliner / utility aircraft that has the capacity to seat upto 14 passengers although GSL Aviation have configured their Caravan's to accommodate less passengers to ensure a greater level of comfort.

While not necessarily specific to the aircraft operated by GSL Aviation, the Cessna 208 Caravan is capable of achieving a maximum cruising speed of 186 knots / 345 km/h, an approximate range of 1070nm / 1982km when maximum fuel and reserves are carried onboard, and a service ceiling of 25000ft / 7620m.

Dassault Falcon 7X M-GMKM captured at Hamilton Island Airport

As mentioned on previous occasions, there is rarely a dull moment at Hamilton Island Airport with a steady flow of RPT, general aviation and corporate aircraft coming and going from the tourist haven.
With assistance from local planespotter Pete B, Air Queensland.blogspot has been able to share a snippet of the action from The Whitsundays, and among the most recent movements captured was a day visit by Dassault Falcon 7X M-GMKM on Friday, July 29.
According to flight tracking website FlightAware, M-GMKM touched down at Hamilton Island from Sydney about mid-morning, and remained parked until departing back to the NSW capital later that evening.
Manufactured in 2012 and bearing an "Isle of Man" (British Isles) registration, M-GMKM is reportedly owned by MKAir7X Pty Ltd, and once listed on the Australian register as VH-MQK.

In addition to the fantastic photo's of M-GMKM, Pete has also kindly forwarded a number of general pics taken at Hamilton Island Airport.

Air Queensland.blogspot would like to take an opportunity to once again thank Pete B for his continued and valuable support of the blog.
