Air Queensland.blogspot had the pleasure to attend Old Station Fly-in & Heritage Show 2017 at Old Station Farm, Central Queensland, on Saturday, May 27, and pleased to inform the event was a huge success.
As always, the Creed family and army of volunteers (air marshals, stall holders, emergency services etc) went above and beyond to ensure the safety and comfort of visitors with a variety of stalls including food, drinks and amenities readily available, complimented by displays of heritage machinery, vintage tractor pulling and truck shows.
After sunset, overnighting aviators and campers were treated to a live band, bonfire and a selection of raffles, while a jumping-castle provided amusement for the children.
As part one of an undetermined number of posts, we begin by posting photo's of the RAAF Roulettes who arrived at the fly-in from Rockhampton to perform the final performance of the airshow that commenced over an hour earlier at 3pm.
As expected, the RAAF Roulettes put on a spectacular aerobatic display that did not disappoint the crowd, and upon completion of the afternoon airshow, landed at Old Station Farm for an overnight visit.
Of interest, the RAAF Roulettes arrived in Central Queensland on Friday, May 26, when they touched down at Rockhampton Airport from RAAF Base Amberley. Remaining overnight at the beef capital, the RAAF Roulettes stayed parked until late Saturday afternoon when they eventually departed for Old Station.
Information from the official RAAF Roulettes spokesperson revealed the aerobatic team will depart Old Station for Rockhampton sometime on Sunday, May 27, where they will take onboard fuel before flying south to RAAF Base Amberley and remain overnight.
It is anticipated the Roulettes will then return home to RAAF Base East Sale, Victoria, on Monday, May 29.
