If you are looking for an ultimate Sunshine Coast experiance, perhaps Paradise Seaplanes located on Bradman Avenue (Maroochy River), Maroochydore is the answer.
Reportedly the only seaplane service in Australia that offers an option to fly with doors-off, Paradise Seaplanes provides a selection of scenic and adventure tours of the Sunshine Coast and surrounding area including Double Island Point, Noosa, Coolum, Mooloolaba, and Caloundra to name a few. Or, if you prefer - feel free to arrange your very own personalised tour.
Originally established as a Hervey Bay operation by local residents Shawn, a qualified pilot, and his wife Sandra, the idea to provide the Fraser Coast with another dimension to the local tourism industry (in this case, an adventure seaplane service) was literally born one morning while Shawn was having breakfast on the foreshore in Hervey Bay and admiring the natural beauty of the area.
"How cool it would be to fly a seaplane from the beach in Scarness" Shawn recalls
Needless to say, Paradise Seaplanes was launched a short time later.
However, after about 18 months of modest success, Paradise Seaplanes relocated to Maroochydore in December 2014 and has since enjoyed more clientele taking advantage of the adventure flights. Additionally, because the Maroochy River is more sheltered compared to Gatakers Bay, Hervey Bay, Paradise Seaplanes has suffered less 'down days' due to unfavourable weather / wind.
Providing an aerial means to transport adventurists / tourists is the job of 1982 manufactured Warszawa-Okecie PZL-104 Wilga (Willy) VH-PSZ.
Powered by a single Centrum Produckzyne Naukowo / PZL AI-14RA, 9-cylinder, air cooled, radial engine - VH-PSZ is commonly known as 'Wilga' despite having 'Willy' on the engine cowls.
