Rockhampton Airport

Owned and operated by the Rockhampton Regional Council, the Rockhampton Airport is a major regional aerodrome that services the city of Rockhampton with scheduled RPT flights operated by QantasLink, Virgin Australia and JetGo, while regular freight operations are provided by Toll Aviation.

Rockhampton (and the nearby military training area of Shoalwater Bay) play host to two major military exercises, the biennial joint Australia / United States 'Exercise Talisman Sabre' and the annual 'Exercise Wallaby' conducted by the Singapore Armed Forces, and during these periods of activity, a huge range of aircraft and helicopters operate from the aerodrome including equipment as large as the Boeing 747, Boeing 777 as well as the Russian Antonov.

In 2008, Rockhampton Airport completed an $8.4 million terminal redevelopment which included the removal of the old viewing deck in-favour of a new ground level viewing point aswell as a new departure lounge, café / restaurant, check-in counters, baggage carousel, new air conditioning, the relocation of the administration offices and the installation of a security screening point.

The main asphalt paved runway is aligned in the 15/33 direction with a length of 2568m (8425ft) while the second asphalt runway aligned 04/22 has a length of 1645m (5397ft).
