Designed specifically for the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) under 'Project Wedgetail' and designated E-7A Wedgetail, the Boeing 737-700 / E-7A has also been selected by the Turkish Air Force (Project Peace Eagle) and the Republic of Korea Air Force (Project Peace Eye).

Supported by No.2 Squadron at RAAF Base Williamtown near Newcastle, NSW, the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) operates six examples of this very capable platform providing a capacity not previously exhibited by the Australian Defence Force (ADF).
