The Mackay Helicopters operation at Mackay Airport has been providing high quality, 24 hours a day / 7 days per week service to the region since 1984 and operates from a hangar on Casey Avenue, Mackay Airport, Central Queensland.
As the name suggests, Mackay Helicopters operates a fleet of choppers which currently consists of an Bell 206L-3 Long Ranger, Bell 222UT and a Bell 430 helicopter aswell as an Eurocopter Deutscland GMBH EC135 T1.
Please note, this does not include the fleet operated by sister company Gladstone Helicopters although some of the choppers are occasionally shared or swapped between the two operations depending on operational and maintenance requirements
Of interest, the Bell choppers operated by Mackay Helicopters are predominately utilised to satisfy general charter work and scenic flights around (but not necessarily limited to) the Mackay region while the Eurocopter EC135 is primarily used for Marine Pilot Transfers to off-shore ships bound for Mackay Harbour / Hay Point as part of a Maritime Safety Queensland contract on behalf of the Queensland Government.
Mackay Helicopters also provide anchorage transfer services to those vessels awaiting berthing at the port with spare parts, provisions and crew transfers all handled. Additionally, if called upon - Mackay Helicopters has the capacity to assist with Search & Rescue requirements.
