Beechcraft 58 Baron VH-KCN visits Maryborough Airport

Rockhampton Airport based Beechcraft 58 Baron VH-KCN had a busy couple of days recently while on charter with the Rockhampton Aero Club.

On Thursday, August 06, VH-KCN departed Rockhampton with only the pilot aboard (CFI Jan Rebello) and a short while later, touched down at Proserpine / Whitsunday Coast Airport. It was here VH-KCN picked up a couple of passengers who had chartered the aircraft as a convenient means of transport to Longreach.

On Friday, August 07 after remaining overnight at Longreach, VH-KCN was then tasked for a late afternoon trip to Maryborough where the passengers had began their journey to North Queensland at an earlier date, and by other means of transport.

Touching down at Maryborough Airport after sunset where I was fortunate to capture a number of photo's, the aircraft was on the ground for about 25 minutes before departing empty back to Rockhampton.

Although privately owned, VH-KCN is readily available for either flying training or general charter work and can be easily organised by contacting the Rockhampton Aero Club on (07) 4922 4596  /  0427 224 596 or by visiting their website at :

Manufactured in 1977 and powered by a pair of Teledyne-Continental, IO-520, 6-cylinder engines - VH-KCN can cruise at 180 knots and comfortably accommodate 6 people (1 pilot, 5 passengers).

As VH-KCN is not pressurised, maximum cruising altitude is restricted to 10000ft, however, this can be increased to approximately 16000 - 18000ft if oxygen supply is carried onboard.
