The Airbus A330 Multi Role Tanker Transport (MRTT) is an aerial refuelling tanker aircraft based on the civilian Airbus A330-200 and operated by the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF). With five examples currently in service, the procurement of extra airframes to boost the fleet has been widely reported.
Other air forces that have ordered the A330 MRTT include France, the Royal Air Force (RAF), United Arab Emirates Air Force, Royal Saudi Air Force and Republic of Singapore Air Force.
The MRTT's operated by the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) are equipped with both an Aerial Refuelling Boom System (ARBS) and two Cobham 905E under-wing refuelling pods, are powered by a pair of General Electric CF6-80E engines and based at No. 33 Squadron, RAAF Base Amberley.
