Australian International Air Show 2015 - Royal Australian Air Force Boeing 737-700 / E-7A (AEW&C) Wedgetail A30-003

The Boeing 737-700 Airborne Early Warning & Control (AEW&C) is a twin-engine, airborne early warning and control aircraft that mounts a fixed, active electronically scanned array radar antenna instead of a rotating attachment.

Designed specifically for the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) under "Project Wedgetail" and designated E-7A Wedgetail, the 737-700 AEW&C has also been selected by the Turkish Air Force (Project Peace Eagle) and the Republic of Korea Air Force (Project Peace Eye).

Supported by No.2 Squadron at RAAF Base Williamtown near Newcastle, the Royal Australian Air Force operates six examples of this very capable platform providing a capacity not previously exhibited by the Australian Defence Force (ADF).
