Having an opportunity to take a closer look at a Royal Australian Air Force Boeing C-17A Globemaster III was an experience I will most likely never forget.
Released from normal operational duties by the Australian Air Force for a number of days and positioned as a static display at the Australian International Air Show 2015 was A41-211 (pictured) aswell as sistership A41-210 which performed a number of aerial displays throughout the event.
Originally developed and manufactured by McDonnell Douglas for the United States Air Force (USAF) from the 1980's to the early 1990's, continued production of the C-17 Globemaster III was transferred to Boeing when the aircraft manufacture merged with McDonnell Douglas.
At present, the Royal Australian Air Force operates 6 Boeing C-17A Globemaster III large transport aircraft however is strongly rumoured more airframes will be purchased from a pool of "white tails" that are currently being built before the C-17A ceases production in mid-2015.
