An aircraft that certainly attracted it's share of attention at the Australian International Air Show 2015 was Essendon Airport based, Air Nostalgia / Gooney Bird McDonnell Douglas DC-3 (47B-30DK) VH-TMQ.
Manufactured in 1945 and powered by a pair of Pratt & Whitney Twin-Wasp, 14 cylinder, piston radial engines - VH-TMQ was operated by the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) for several decades until the early 1980's as A65-91.
Afterwards, ex-A65-91 / VH-TMQ spent a number of years deteriorating in the weather at Essendon Airport until an extensive refurbishment programme restored this grand 'ole lady of the skies back to air worthy condition.
